The OrgShakers
Who We Are
OrgShakers are not only leading practitioners in our individual areas of expertise. We also share a quality which we’ve found is increasingly rare in the world of business consultancy – we like each other, and we enjoy what we do. This creates an informal and inclusive environment where ideas are freely shared, energetically explored, and sometimes robustly challenged. In other words, an environment where we can shake things up a bit!

David Fairhurst – Founder
Contact David: hello@orgshakers.com
David Fairhurst is the Founder and CEO of OrgShakers, a practitioner-led global HR consultancy helping founders, CEOs, Boards, and senior HR leaders build stronger organizations through people strategy, leadership, culture, workforce transformation, and human-centered innovation.
Widely recognized as one of the world’s leading HR practitioners, David brings more than 30 years of corporate experience across hospitality, retail, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, distribution, and aerospace. He has operated at the highest levels of global business, including as Global Chief People Officer during one of the most significant business turnarounds of its time. That experience shapes his belief that people strategy is not a support function, it is a core driver of business performance, growth, resilience, and transformation.
David founded OrgShakers to bring together senior practitioners who have led real change inside complex organizations. Under his leadership, the firm combines board-level advisory, hands-on delivery, associate expertise, partner ecosystems, proven methodologies, and practical tools to help clients move from insight to execution. This means clients benefit not only from David’s personal experience, but from the collective depth of a global team built to solve complex people and organization challenges at pace.
David personally advises CEOs, founders, Boards, and newly appointed Chief People Officers on the moments that matter most: shaping people strategy, building leadership capability, strengthening culture, navigating transformation, improving organizational performance, supporting growth, and preparing workforces for the future. He is known for combining commercial judgment, hard data, and practitioner instinct to challenge conventional thinking and create pragmatic solutions that work in the real world.
In 2014, David predicted in the Financial Times that major global economies were approaching a “workforce cliff”, a period of labor scarcity that would materially affect business growth. That early insight, now widely reflected in today’s workforce challenges, reinforced his reputation as a forward-looking thinker who helps leaders anticipate change before it becomes urgent.
David’s influence extends across business, media, government, and the HR profession. He has been referenced by major media organizations, including the BBC, has advised government and public-sector bodies, and is a respected speaker on the future of work, leadership, culture, and the evolving relationship between people and technology.
‘David is just one of the best HR people I’ve run into.
He has great insight into the business and great instincts on what HR can do to help.”’
Dave Ulrich, Rensis Likert Professor at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of BusinessFor four consecutive years, David was voted HR Magazine’s “Most Influential Practitioner,” receiving its lifetime achievement award in 2012. He was also the first HR professional to be named “Business Communicator of the Year” by the Institute of Internal Communications, an award previously given to figures such as Anita Roddick and Richard Branson.
‘Business Matters. Business Success Matters. But above all, it’s a matter of people.’
David Fairhurst, from his 2009 book ‘Words for the “Whys”’David is a Chartered Companion of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, its highest honor, and previously served as Vice President of Learning, Training and Development. He is also a Fellow of the RSA and a graduate Fellow of the CEO Perspectives program in the United States. He holds degrees from Lancaster University and Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, and has been awarded honorary doctorates by Manchester Metropolitan University and Middlesex University.
Across his work, David remains focused on a simple conviction: business success depends on people, and organizations perform best when their leaders have the courage, capability, and clarity to shape the future rather than simply react to it.
